The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for Medicare, runs from October 15 to December 7 each year, providing a critical window for beneficiaries to review and adjust their healthcare plans. During this period, individuals with Medicare can switch between Original Medicare (Parts A and B) and Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans, change their Medicare Advantage plan, or modify their Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
It’s essential to assess your current plan’s coverage, costs, and network of providers to ensure it continues to meet your needs. If you find that your health needs or medications have changed, the AEP offers an opportunity to explore other plans that may offer better coverage or savings.
Enrolling or making changes during this period ensures that your new coverage begins on January 1 of the following year. Failing to review and adjust your plan during the AEP could result in missing out on potential benefits or cost savings. This is especially true this year due to the significant number of changes being implemented by virtue of the Inflation Reduction Act which will likely affect premiums, medication prices, and carrier availability.
While it is still early, it is important to understand the opportunity that AEP affords you. Being proactive during the AEP helps ensure that your Medicare plan aligns with your health care needs and financial situation for the upcoming year.
As local, licensed, and independent agents we can provide no-cost, no-obligation benefit reviews for you beginning October 1, 2025 with the ability to submit applications beginning on October 15th.
